Dear Panther Families,
We hope that this letter finds you happy and well. We continue to be focused on putting Kids First as we navigate through the challenges presented by the COVID-19 virus.
Over the past three days, our staff has been preparing our school for closure which includes creating the enclosed instructional enrichment materials for students. As educators, we know that extended breaks from school can result in a “learning gap” and we want to mitigate the effect of missing school as much as possible. These materials were developed with the intent to provide review and practice for our students during this extended break. It will not be graded, but students are encouraged to maintain their academics and keep an active mind. We have also posted these extended learning opportunities on our website. We continue to be focused on the well-being and health of our students, families, and community.
Please remember the following:
Stay Healthy – Avoid unnecessary gatherings and keep good hygiene by washing your hands regularly.
Remember to “unplug” from electronics daily and READ. It’s the best way to engage your mind. We have provided numerous resources on our webpage.
We know this can be a very stressful time. Exercise is a great way to reduce stress. Please see our “PE” section of the attached matrix for ideas and strategies.
Food is available for all K-12 students (under 18): Monday - Friday, Drive-thru Pick-up in parking lots of Walnut High School and Diamond Bar High School, from 7:30 A.M. - 10:00 A.M. Child must be present. Please check your email and/or our website for updates.
This can be a great opportunity to bond as a family. Board games, cards, going for walks and karaoke create opportunities to strengthen relationships and build memories.
Our schools are officially closed. Access to campus will be restricted until after Spring Break. We will provide an update regarding teaching and learning by Monday, April 20th.
Thank you again for your cooperation and please remember to check your email regularly as we will send frequent updates. Stay healthy, stay safe and take care of one another.
We look forward to welcoming you back soon,
Susan Arzola, Ed.D.
