1. Quiz tomorrow - Last week our reading was pages 50 to 55 on Models in Earth Science.  Show me that you did your reading tomorrow.  Thank you !!
 
2. Extra Credit #4 ends on October 11th.  You must build the Hodometer Tool and then measure at least 4 things with it.  Please write down your 4 or more things on the disk of your Hodometer.  Extra Credit is optional.
 
3. Today I collected your homework from last Friday.  Did you turn in your Models in Science Foldable today ??  If not turn it in for a late grade tomorrow.  For those of you that turned it on time a big THANK YOU !!!

September is childhood cancer awareness month.  We as a school are taking a stand to help fund research.  Please read over the yellow flyer that went home today.  Thank you for helping us in this worthy cause.  Unfortunately, we have lost some South Pointe students over the years to childhood cancer.

1. Today we did laptops on Measuring Metric Units.  Our theme this week is Tools and Measurement for Earth Scientists.  Please check student/parent portal for today's laptop grade.
 
2. Our reading this week is pages 44 to 49 on Tools and Measurement. Please have that complete by this weekend.  Thank you for doing your reading each week.
 
3. Due tomorrow - Complete your coloring for Tools of an Earth Scientist.  You must use at least 5 colors for an A grade.
 
4. Extra Credit #2 ends tomorrow.  This is optional.
 
5. I will be grading your August Agendas tomorrow.  Have you been copying my Science Agenda board each day ?  I will be grading pages 24 to 29 for a total of 15 points.  Thank you for writing in them each day.
6. Tomorrow we will be using metric rulers for measuring.  If you have a ruler that has inches and centimeters on it please pack it tonight in your backpack.  Thank you !!

1. Due Wednesday - complete today's coloring activity for Tools of Earth Science.  You must use at least 5 or more colors for an A grade.  This will be page #1 of our new Science Journal.
 
2. Extra Credit #2 ends next Wednesday.  This is worth up to 15 extra credit points.  It is optional.
 
3. I will need to grade your August Agendas next week.  Thank you for writing in them each period.
 
4. For Tuesday if you have headphones please bring them in.  We will be doing laptops on Tuesday to begin our new #2 Study on Tools of Earth Science.  Thank you !!
 
5. It is now time to empty out Journal #1.  We have completed our first study and are now ready to begin study #2.  Please empty out the pages for Journal #1 by putting a staple in them and leaving this old journal at home.  Next semester the old journals will become extra credit points if you save them.  Thank you !!

6th Grade Earth Science Agenda and Homework - Wednesday, August 28th.
 
1. Get ready tonight for our first Science Test tomorrow.  We have covered Chapter #1 these first three weeks of school.  We looked at Thinking Like a Scientist, Scientific Methods, and Safety in Science.  Tomorrow we will take Test #1 on these three areas.  In Mr Woodward's class I allow you to make a Study Buddy for each test.  You may use one sheet of paper and pack both sides with any notes you think might be helpful for you on tomorrow's test. You may then use this on the test. This is not required so it is optional. 
2. Due tomorrow - on test days I grade your Science Journal for organization.  Today I went over my journal and showed you the correct order.  Each page should be numbered and in order for an A+ grade.  Our first journal ended with ten pages inside your folder or binder.  Each page is worth 2 points so tomorrows first journal is worth 20 points.  Thank you for being organized this year !!

2. Test #1 is this Thursday.  We have covered Chapter #1 in your Earth Science book.  Please review your Science Journal and Earth Science Book before the test.  Thank you for studying !!
 
3. Extra Credit #2 ends on September 4th.  See the rubric in your journal.  This extra credit is creating a Scientific Method Poster.  Be creative !!  It is optional.
 
4. Due tomorrow - complete today's Safety Cartoon that you started in class after the quiz.

1. Due tomorrow - Tonight complete your Directed Reading Notes from last Thursday.  You are using pages 16 to 22 to finish these.  This assignment will be worth 26 points tomorrow.  Remember there is a front and backside.
 
2. Extra Credit #2 ends on September 4th.  The directions for this poster are in your Science Journal on page 8. This is optional.
 
3. We will be taking our first Test on Thursday.  This will be on the first three sections of Chapter #1 - Thinking Like a Scientist, Scientific Methods, and Safety in Science.  I will also be grading your first Science Journal on Thursday.  This will be an organization grade showing me how well you have kept your science pages.  
 
4. Last weeks reading was from pages 16 to 22 on the Scientific Methods.  I will be giving you a Quiz on these pages tomorrow but it will be open book this time.  This weeks reading is pages 24 ti 29 on Safety in Science.  Thank you for doing your weekly reading.

Tonight is Back to School Night.  The night begins in the Gym.  We all meet there for introductions and then you will follow your students schedule beginning with homeroom.  Make sure your student gives you their schedule for you to follow.  They made one for you on a blue sheet of paper earlier this week.  Remember, Back to School Night is for the parents to meet their students teachers and follow your rotation schedule. 2. Due tomorrow - remember to bring your bag in with one item inside.  This is part of our study on Thinking Like a Scientist.  The directions are on the back of page 1 in our Science Journal.
