PUPIL PROMOTION AND RETENTION

In accordance with AB1626, the Walnut Valley Unified School District has adopted a promotion/retention policy which establishes minimum proficiency levels for students. Parents of students identified by the school as being at risk of not fulfilling grade-level requirements will become involved in a process which will determine whether a student is promoted or retained.

The following criteria will determine if a student is at-risk:
1. Scored below the 25 percentile on the math or language arts sections of the STAR Test
2. Have a grade of D- or F in math or language arts
3. Have a grade point average 1.5 or less in academic subjects
